Picture display tips and ideas

Our stairway is crying out for a little TLC so with lots of beautiful frames and pics given as gifts I've decided to create a picture collage... I found this helpful info on arranging prints on www.wholesaleframing.com

Place larger frames in the centre to creat a focal point, create a gallery by surrounding them with smaller frames...

Display frames and pictures on shelves and ledges.  The frames don't need to be the same and staggering and overlapping them keeps it interesting...

The upward angle of the frames should match the angle of the stair in a staircase display, again keep larger frames as the focal point and use smaller ones as an accent - note how the corners of the smaller frames are placed in relation to the dotted line...

Abigail Ahearn abigailahern.wordpress.com does display collections very well, combining pictures books and trinkets to create quirky and interesting displays...

I love this living / dining area from the www.slettvoll.no catalogue.  It has a very relaxed vibe.  They've used lots of natural materials like wood, linen and sisal.  The picture display works really well as a focal in the room with just a plain white backdrop.

Here are some more of my favs...

Generally pictures look best in groups of 3's and 5's...like this black and white canvas group.  Have a go and let us know or send some pics of how it looks !
